Sandra Lopez has captivated the classical music through successful performances in a wide range of repertoire, making her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2003 as Catherine in the world premier of Tobias Picker's opera A View from the Bridge. Ms. Lopez has performed roles which include Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Mimi in La Boheme, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, Marguerite in Faust, Micaela in Carmen, Violetta in La Traviata, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with companies that include Florida Grand Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Nashville Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Berkshire Opera, San Antonio Opera, Connecticut Grand Opera, PORT Opera, Opera North (USA), among others. Recent engagements include Tosca with Opera de Oviedo, Micaela with Cincinnati Opera and Fort Worth Opera. Upcoming engagements include Mimi with Opera Carolina, Butterfly with Virginia Opera, Liu with San Antonio Opera, and Aida with the Oviedo Filarmonia, as well as concert appearances, among them the Opening Gala of Festival Miami in October 2010. As comfortable in concert as on the opera stage, Ms. Lopez has toured with Andrea Bocelli to critical acclaim and has performed Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Gounod’s Saint Cecilia Mass and Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, as well as many Opera Gala concerts with The Madison Symphony, Opera Pacific, Fort Worth Symphony, Greensboro Symphony, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Puerto Rico Symphony, Queens Symphony, Miami Chamber Society, Manchester Music Festival and the New Choral Society. In 2007 Lopez was invited to test the new Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera, the opera house part of the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, FL, and also sang the role of Mimi in their Opening night Gala.
Ms. Lopez has worked with many conductors including James Levine, Julius Rudel, Fabio Luisi, Yves Abel, Stewart Robertson, Katherine Kelly, Dennis Russell Davies, Donald Runnicles, Stephen Lord, Laurence Gilgore and Steven White to name a few. This season will find Ms. Lopez at The Fort Worth Opera as Liu in Turandot, The Kentucky Symphony as Mimi in LaBoheme, Soprano soloist in Handel's Messiah for performances in Mandeville, LA. and a Christmas Eve Extravaganza performance in Manger Square, Bethlehem, Israel, Beethoven's 9th Symphony for performances in Beijing and Shanghi, China as well as several recitals throughout the United States. Sandra Lopez began her musical life as a violist and pianist before declaring voice as her primary instrument while as a student at The University of Miami. After winning the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Award in 1997, Ms. Lopez was asked to join The Lindemann Young Artist Development Program of The Metropolitan Opera. While in the program, Ms. Lopez was assigned covers and performances of Marguerite in Faust, Liù in Turandot, Roberta Alden in the world premier of Tobias Picker’s An American Tragedy, Frasquita in Carmen, Tebaldo in Don Carlo, Fourth Maid in Elektra, Flowermaiden in Parsifal, and others. Since graduating from The Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, Ms. Lopez has consistantly established herself as the soprano to watch through successful performances, while garnishing comparisons to such great soprano's as Victoria de los Angeles and Licia Albanese. Ms. Lopez holds a MBA from The University of Miami. |

REVIEWS
But the way Sandra Lopez sang that "Ave Maria" and the plaintive "Willow Song"that led into it painted a picture of its own. Lopez's voice combined the plaintive edge of the woodwinds, her companions in much of the Willow Song with the throbbing intensity that comes only from the human throat
